[Anthropic plans to directly lease 1 gigawatt of computing power, bypassing cloud service providers] September 23rd, Anthropic is in the early stages of negotiations and plans to lease up to 1 gigawatt of computing power from the data center developer of Apollo Global Management Holdings. Anthropic’s move aims to bypass cloud service providers and open up a path to reduce computing power costs. Data center developers say that building 1 gigawatt of computing power requires at least US$40 billion in capital investment.
