[OpenAI model accessed public data from the U.S. Census Bureau and SEC] On September 26th, OpenAI’s artificial intelligence model accessed public information from U.S. government websites, including website content from the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The company has notified "dozens" of institutions, including government departments and universities, whose websites may be blocked due to access to AI models during OpenAI's technical review. OpenAI stated that the vast majority of activities that have been verified so far are AI models performing "routine research tasks", such as obtaining corresponding answers to questions from websites. It is expected that it will take several months to complete all review work.
