[Serbian President Vucic announced his resignation] September 28th, Serbian President Vucic delivered a speech to the people on the evening of September 27th local time and announced his resignation. On the 5th of this month, the General Committee of the Serbian Forward Party decided to elect Vucic as the leader of the party’s parliamentary election list and candidate for prime minister. Vucic subsequently accepted the election. On the 9th, Vucic signed a presidential order to dissolve parliament and announced that an early parliamentary election would be held on October 25. Vucic was elected president in April 2017 and will be re-elected in May 2022. According to the Serbian constitution, the presidential term is 5 years and can be reappointed once.
