[Power outage in many provinces in eastern Cuba] On August 28, the Cuban Electricity Union issued a notice on social media on the 27th that the power system in the eastern part of the country from Holguin Province to Guantánamo Province was out of power. The Cuban Electricity Union stated that some generating units were disconnected from the grid due to fluctuations in transmission lines, leading to the above-mentioned power outages. Affected by U.S. sanctions, Cuba has long been difficult to import fuel and power plant equipment. The power plant equipment is old and difficult to replace, and the national power supply is tight. Since October 2024, Cuba has suffered multiple nationwide blackouts due to power facility failures, hurricanes and other reasons. (CCTV News)
