[Anthropic reportedly warned in its IPO documents that AI may bring "catastrophic" risks] September 29th, as the artificial intelligence company Anthropic prepares for its IPO, it warned in its prospectus that its technology may bring "catastrophic or existential risks" to humanity. A considerable portion of the document focuses on the harm that AI can cause, including its attempts to maintain its operations, resist being shut down, and conceal or manipulate information. According to the report, the documents also show that Anthropic's sales increased 11 times last year to about $4.6 billion, with nearly a quarter of revenue coming from two customers. The company's adjusted operating loss exceeded US$8 billion during the same period and it plans to invest US$518 billion in cloud, computing power and infrastructure construction in the next few years.
