[Citi: As the Bank of Japan raises interest rates, the long-term trend of the yen may have shifted to appreciation] On September 30, Citi strategists said in a report that with the Bank of Japan raising interest rates and Japanese interest rates rising, the long-term trend of the yen may have shifted to appreciation. Strategists wrote that there has been a clear change in the Sanae government's policy stance, and its previous policy orientation that tended to promote inflation may now be weakened. Citi said that after Japan got rid of deflation under the "Abenomics" policy of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the policy shift from supporting a weak yen to supporting a strong yen was a necessary change. Citigroup said that the policy stance of the United States has also changed, from previously restricting excessive weakness of the yen to guiding the yen to strengthen.
