[India: Passenger vehicle fuel efficiency will increase by 16.7% by fiscal year 2032] On September 30, the Indian government has released new corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) standards for passenger vehicles, with the goal of improving fuel consumption by 16.7% by March 2032. According to the new regulations, the fuel consumption benchmark will be tightened from 3.996 liters/100 kilometers in the 2027-28 fiscal year to 3.3273 liters/100 kilometers in the 2031-32 fiscal year. The reference vehicle weight under the new regulations increased by approximately 13.6% from 1,082 kg to 1,229 kg. This regulation will come into effect on April 1, 2027, and will continue to apply until March 31, 2032.
