[South Korea’s Ministry of Planning and Finance: Tax revenue is expected to reach US$353 billion in 2026, a year-on-year increase of 28%] On September 30, data from South Korea’s Ministry of Planning and Finance showed that South Korea’s tax revenue is expected to reach 478.6 trillion won (approximately US$353 billion) in 2026, a year-on-year increase of 28%. The figure will be 63.2 trillion won (a 15.2% increase) higher than the estimate in this year's supplementary budget due to higher-than-expected revenue from chip profits, special dividends and stock trading. This forecast data means that South Korea’s annual tax revenue will exceed the 400 trillion won mark for the first time, approximately 21% higher than the previous record set in 2022. Taxes increased by 104.7 trillion won compared with last year, a sign that the artificial intelligence boom is reshaping South Korea's national finances and its export-oriented economy.
