[Russia protests Hungary’s “unfriendly” demand for reciprocal expulsion of Hungarian diplomats] On October 1, local time, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Hungarian charge d’affaires in Russia to lodge a firm protest against Hungary’s “unreasonable and blatantly unfriendly” request for a number of Russian diplomats to leave the country. Russia said it has informed Hungary that as a reciprocal measure, some staff of the Hungarian Embassy in Russia and the Consulate General in St. Petersburg and Kazan must leave Russia within two weeks. On September 8, Hungarian Foreign Minister Orban announced the expulsion of 10 Russian diplomats. He also stated that this move did not mean the cessation of diplomatic relations and that Budapest was still willing to maintain necessary dialogue with Moscow. (CCTV News)
