[Saudi Arabia provides approximately US$60 million in aid to the Yemeni government] On October 2, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed al-Jaber, posted on social media on the 1st that Saudi Arabia has provided more than 224 million Saudi riyals (approximately US$59.66 million) in budget support funds to the Yemeni government. Jaber said the payment was provided at the request of the Yemeni government to help the Yemeni government maintain cash flow, support fiscal policy and enhance purchasing power. According to Jaber, the funds were allocated through Saudi Arabia’s “Yemen Development and Reconstruction Project.” He said the "resources, property and interests of the Yemeni people" were under attack by the Houthis.
