[The Medical Security Law will come into effect on January 1, 2027] On August 28, the 24th Session of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress voted to pass the Medical Security Law on August 28, which will come into effect on January 1, 2027. The law has 7 chapters and 56 articles in total. Each chapter is general principles, medical security system, medical security fund, medical security services, supervision and management, legal responsibilities, and supplementary provisions. The Medical Security Law was formulated to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of citizens in medical security, standardize medical security relationships, optimize medical security services, improve the multi-level universal medical security system, promote the high-quality development of medical security work, implement the health-first development strategy, and promote the construction of a healthy China.
