[Revision of Agricultural Law Completed] August 28: The 24th Session of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress voted to adopt the newly revised Agricultural Law on August 28, which will come into effect on January 1, 2027. The newly revised Agricultural Law has a total of fourteen chapters, including general principles, agricultural production and operation system, agricultural production, circulation and processing of agricultural products, food security, agricultural input and support protection, agricultural science and technology, education and talents, protection of land and other agricultural resources, agricultural green development, protection of farmers' rights and interests, rural economic development, supervision and inspection, legal responsibilities, and supplementary provisions. The law stipulates that the basic goals of agricultural and rural economic development are: to improve the rural economic system that adapts to the requirements of developing a socialist market economy, to continuously liberate and develop rural productivity, to improve the comprehensive agricultural production capacity and quality benefits, to ensure a stable and safe supply of important agricultural products such as grain, to meet the needs of national economic development and people's better life, to increase the income and living standards of farmers, to promote the multi-channel employment of rural labor, to promote the construction of a livable, workable and beautiful countryside, to narrow urban-rural and regional differences, to promote integrated development of urban and rural areas, and to gradually realize agricultural and rural modernization.
