[Southern Theater Command Spokesperson’s Statement] On October 5th, the spokesperson of the Southern Theater Command, Naval Colonel Zhai Shichen, stated that on October 3, a Philippine C-208 aircraft illegally invaded China’s airspace over Huangyan Island without the approval of the Chinese government. The Southern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army organized naval and air forces to track, monitor, and warn away in accordance with laws and regulations. Huangyan Island is China's inherent territory. The Philippines' actions seriously violated China's sovereignty and could easily lead to accidents at sea and in the air. We are telling the Philippines to immediately stop infringement and provocation. Troops in the theater remain on high alert at all times and resolutely safeguard national sovereignty and security as well as regional peace and stability.
