[Wide-scale blackout in London] October 5th: At around 10:30 a.m. local time today (October 5), large areas of the central, eastern and financial cities of London, the British capital, experienced power outages. It was reported that the cause was a failure of underground cables. Thousands of homes, office buildings and critical transport infrastructure are affected in more than 30 London postcodes. UK Power Networks is carrying out repairs and expects power to be restored to most areas between noon and 1pm. (CCTV International News)
