At present, the total scale of seawater desalination projects built nationwide is 3.077 million tons/day. According to incomplete statistics, the total scale of proposed and under construction exceeds 1 million tons/day. In July this year, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Natural Resources, and the Ministry of Water Resources jointly issued the "Action Plan for the Development of Seawater Desalination Industry" to promote the large-scale utilization of seawater desalination and strive to achieve a total scale of 4.5 million tons/day of seawater desalination projects nationwide by 2030, with the scale of new seawater desalination projects exceeding 1.5 million tons/day.
