[Google and Constellation are close to reaching a billion-dollar nuclear power purchase agreement] October 6th, as data centers are booming, technology companies are rushing to buy electricity. Google is closing in on a multi-year deal with Constellation that is expected to total $1 billion or more and could be announced as early as this week, according to people familiar with the matter. Amazon just last week reached a similar agreement with Constellation to purchase 690 megawatts of power, including additional power capacity obtained by upgrading the Calvert Cliffs nuclear power plant in Maryland.
