[Non-profit organization UANI said the U.S. blockade has caused dozens of Iranian oil tankers to be stranded off the coast of the country] On October 6, the non-profit organization United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) said that the U.S. blockade on Iran has caused dozens of fully loaded oil tankers to be stranded off the coast of Iran, and some ships outside the Persian Gulf are anchored off the coast of Sri Lanka. The organization said in a shipping report released on October 5 that at least 50 tankers carrying Iranian oil are still stranded near Iran, roughly the same number as two months ago. These vessels mainly carry crude oil, but also petroleum products and liquefied petroleum gas. UANI said that there are also some empty ships anchored at anchorages across the Indo-Pacific, unable to return to Iranian ports due to the US blockade. Twenty Iranian-flagged ships are located off Sri Lanka and one off Oman.
