[Mexico deploys additional security forces to the Mexico-US border] October 6th, Mexican President Sheinbaum stated on the 5th that Mexico will strengthen the deployment of security forces in the border areas and launch a new round of "mirror operations" with the United States to respond to relevant changes in the situation. Sheinbaum said at a press conference that day that the United States had previously stated verbally and in writing that shots had been fired from the Mexican side in the direction of the United States. Mexico has asked the United States to provide relevant evidence, but it currently has no material to substantiate this statement. Mexican National Guard, Defense and Navy personnel also found no related shootings. Sheinbaum said that in order to avoid similar situations in the border area, the Mexican Ministry of Defense and Navy, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, communicated directly with the U.S. Northern Command and the Coast Guard, proposing that the two sides carry out "Mirror Operation" in the border area between Tamaulipas, Mexico, and Texas, the United States, and deploy security forces on both sides of the Rio Grande River on the Mexico-U.S. border to carry out simultaneous patrols. The Mexican government announced on the evening of the 4th that it would send 500 additional National Guard and Army personnel to the Tamaulipas border area. (CCTV News)
