[Société Générale: The Federal Reserve will raise interest rates three times before March next year] August 31, Societe Generale’s latest forecast is that the Federal Reserve will begin to raise interest rates in September as persistent inflation and an improving labor market prompt policymakers to adopt a more tightening stance. The bank currently forecasts the Fed will raise interest rates by 25 basis points at its September and December meetings, followed by another hike in March 2027. Jan Groen, chief U.S. economist at Societe Generale, pointed out in the latest report that the final extent of interest rate hikes is still uncertain. Overall, Societe Generale forecasts that the "midpoint" of the federal funds target rate range will reach 4.125% by the end of 2026 and 4.375% by early 2027. The report also said that market pricing as of August 28 shows that the peak interest rate may be around 4.2%.
