[Japan’s Topix Index constituent stocks will be significantly reduced] On October 7, the Japan Exchange Group, the parent company of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, stated on the 7th that the Tokyo Stock Exchange Stock Price Index constituent stocks will begin to be adjusted at the end of October, and the number of constituent stocks after the adjustment will be reduced by approximately 40% to 986. The core of this adjustment is the change in the screening criteria for constituent stocks. Previously, companies listed on the former Topix Section 1 (now the main market) were basically included in the Topix stock index. Under the new rules, whether a listed company can enter the Topix Index will depend on indicators such as stock trading activity and market capitalization, and will no longer mainly depend on which market the company is listed on.
