[International Energy Agency member states agree to accelerate the release of 100 million barrels of oil reserves] October 8th, the International Energy Agency issued a statement on the 7th that its member governments agreed to accelerate the implementation of the oil reserve release plan announced in March this year. If all previously committed but not yet released reserves are put on the market, it is expected that about 100 million barrels of oil will be released. The statement also said that in view of the current tight supply situation in the diesel market, its member states have agreed to prioritize the release of diesel when conditions permit. According to the statement, so far, IEA member states have released approximately 325 million barrels of oil in accordance with the collective action plan reached in March this year, and the release scale of some countries has exceeded previous commitments. IEA member countries still hold about 1.1 billion barrels of public emergency oil reserves, including more than 200 million barrels of diesel. If necessary, these reserves can be further used to stabilize market supply.
