[Selected lunchtime news on October 8th]
1. As of midday closing, the Shanghai Stock Exchange Index fell 0.27%, the Shenzhen Component Index fell 1.24%, and the ChiNext Index fell 2.13%.
2. Hong Kong stocks closed at noon, with the Hang Seng Index down 0.69% and the Hang Seng Technology Index down 1.93%.
3. The Ministry of Finance plans to issue special treasury bonds (first phase) funded by central financial institutions in 2026 today. The treasury bonds to be issued this time are 5-year fixed-rate interest-bearing bonds with a total face value of 150 billion yuan through competitive bidding. The coupon rate will be determined through competitive bidding. Interest will be calculated starting tomorrow and the interest will be paid annually.
4. South Korea’s KOSPI index fell by more than 2%, Samsung Electronics fell by 1.77%, and SK Hynix fell by 1.51%.
5. According to reports, multiple U.S. officials said that the U.S. Department of Defense had instructed the U.S. Central Command to complete relevant preparations a few days ago in response to the possible resumption of large-scale military operations against Iran.
