[China Coast Guard Spokesperson’s Statement] On October 8, China Coast Guard Spokesperson Jiang Lue said that on October 8, the Philippine Coast Guard Ship 4409 went to the waters near Ren’ai Reef to transfer an injured person from an illegal “beaching” vessel. Out of humanitarian considerations, China immediately allowed the Philippines to use small boats to transport the injured. The Chinese Coast Guard handled the situation in accordance with laws and regulations and provided necessary conveniences. The relevant remarks by the Philippines ignore the facts, confuse right and wrong, and attempt to confuse the public. China has indisputable sovereignty over the Nansha Islands, including Second Thomas Shoal, and its adjacent waters.
