[United Nations agency: Global economic growth is expected to slow to 2.6% in 2026] On October 9, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development released the 2026 annual trade and development report. It is expected that global gross domestic product (GDP) will grow by 2.6% in 2026, lower than the 2.9% growth rate in 2025; among them, the economic growth rate of developing economies in 2026 is expected to slow down from 4.7% last year to 4%. Asia is expected to contribute 59% of global economic growth in 2026. The report points out that East Asia is at the core of the rapid development of semiconductor and advanced computer manufacturing. Artificial intelligence (AI) products have become a major driver of goods trade, but growth in AI-related trade does not automatically lead to widespread development gains.
