[Voting for local elections and Senate elections in the Czech Republic starts] On October 9th, voting for local elections and Senate elections in the Czech Republic officially started on October 9, local time. Voters will elect members of municipalities and local councils, and at the same time conduct Senate general elections in 27 districts to elect one-third of the Senate seats. The voting started at 14:00 local time on the 9th and will last until 14:00 on the 10th. This is the ninth local election held in the Czech Republic since independence in 1993. The local elections are held at the same time as the first round of voting for the Senate election. In the Senate elections, a total of 27 constituencies are voting. If no candidate obtains the required majority of votes in the first round, the two candidates with the highest votes will advance to the second round of voting, which is expected to be held on October 16th and 17th.
