[Musk: The Terrafab factory will reshape chip manufacturing] On October 11th, Musk said that given the expertise of his companies in manufacturing customized equipment, he believes that they are likely to "find a way to make chips better than anyone else." Musk told a group of customers and investors outside Tesla's Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, that while he currently "doesn't know how to make a microchip, we'll figure it out." He noted during a live-streamed appearance at the X Takeover event on Saturday that he didn't see much custom equipment when touring rival facilities, and he said his company has extensive experience making such equipment, allowing them to improve their manufacturing processes. "I think it's fair to say that this is one of the hardest things to do in the world," Musk said. "I don't want to sound complacent or take it for granted, but I think we're probably going to find a way to make chips better than anybody else. To be honest with you. I don't know how long that's going to take. It could be years."
