[Norwegian regulator fines Microsoft nearly US$10 million for privacy breach] On October 12, a statement showed that the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Norwegian Data Protection Authority) fined the company 92 million kronor (approximately US$9.6 million) for illegally sharing sensitive data of "thousands of users" in Norway. It's the highest fine the agency has ever issued. The regulator said Microsoft's advertising service Xandr forwarded the personal data of Norwegian Grindr users to potentially thousands of other companies. It has determined that the company has no legal basis to process the personal data of Norwegian Grindr users. The case was initially opened for investigation by the Norwegian Consumer Protection Agency in 2020.
