[Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission: It will strengthen targeted tools to combat IPO-related misconduct and other corporate misconduct] On October 12, the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission issued a consultation conclusion today, stating that it will strengthen targeted tools under the Securities and Futures (Listing on Securities Markets) Rules to handle IPO cases and post-listing matters, so as to improve the regulatory efficiency and investor protection of Hong Kong’s listed market. The amendments will allow the SFC to impose conditions on listing applicants that continue to apply after listing and impose post-listing conditions on listed issuers as an alternative to an immediate suspension of trading, while simplifying the procedures for resuming trading. In addition, the SFC will introduce a new mechanism for the Securities and Futures Appeals Tribunal to conduct an independent review of the SFC’s decisions under the Securities Market Listing Rules (including decisions related to the imposition of conditions, suspension and resumption of trading), so as to enhance procedural fairness and enhance transparency.
