[Britain summons Iran’s ambassador to the UK and sanctions two Iranians] On October 13, British Foreign Secretary Miliband stated that the UK had formally summoned Iran’s ambassador to the UK Ali Mousavi and lodged stern representations over Iran’s ongoing so-called “malign activities.” The British government also announced the same day that it would impose sanctions on two Iranian nationals, including immediately freezing their assets, banning them from entering the UK, and disqualifying them from serving as company directors. The two are Ruhollah Bazgandi, the head of counterintelligence operations of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and Shahram Ali Reza Tamalzad Jaki, who is suspected of assisting the Zindashti criminal network. The British side said the criminal network was involved in multiple plots against Iranian dissidents.
