[Scientists create new proteins in test tubes without living cells] On August 28, a team from Harvard University in the United States recently developed a new tool called AGENTEX, which expands the "amino acid alphabet" used in protein design from the natural 20 to 34 by modifying transfer RNA (tRNA). This tool can construct new proteins in test tubes without modifying the genome of an organism or even living cells. It provides a new way to quickly design and manufacture proteins that do not exist in nature, and is expected to promote the research and development of drugs, materials and other fields. Relevant research was published in the latest issue of the journal Nature.
