[NVIDIA and Cisco launch new pluggable optical modules suitable for new generation AI factories] On October 13th, NVIDIA and Cisco announced the launch of ultra-dense small form factor pluggable modules (USFP). According to reports, the new high-density optical module has a single channel of 400Gb/s and a capacity of up to 12.8Tb/s, which is suitable for the new generation of AI factories equipped with hardware ecosystems. Compared with single-channel 200Gb/s optical modules, USFP can provide 4 times the bandwidth density and 1.3 times the energy efficiency, so the AI factory can connect more computing systems without increasing the network layer, while reducing the transmission power consumption per unit of data. To build a multi-source hardware ecosystem around USFP, NVIDIA and Cisco are partnering with TE Connectivity and Amphenol.
