[Three weeks before the U.S. midterm elections, the residences of Democratic senators were raided] October 13th: In the early morning of October 12th, U.S. federal agents launched a search at a residence in Washington, the capital, where Democratic Congressman Ilhan Omar lived. It is reported that federal agents cordoned off the neighborhood around Omar's residence and removed multiple cardboard boxes labeled "evidence of seized property" from the house. The search was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations agents. The U.S. Department of Justice said the search was judicially authorized and related to an ongoing criminal investigation, but did not disclose further information. U.S. sources said the search was related to a criminal fraud investigation involving immigration documents filed by Omar's late father on her behalf when she was a child. (CCTV News)
