[IMF calls for action to prevent three major financial stability risks] On October 13, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) released the "Global Financial Stability Report" on October 13, saying that in response to the continued increase in fragility of global financial markets, policymakers should take actions, including curbing leverage, enhancing debt sustainability, and strengthening cyber defense capabilities. The report believes that against the background of steady economic growth and strong corporate profits, the global financial market remains resilient and financial conditions are relatively loose, but financial stability risks have increased. The report highlights three outstanding risks. First, artificial intelligence (AI) investment and profitability weaken or continue to decline, which may trigger a correction in AI-related asset prices. At the same time, rising leverage and concentrated risk exposure will intensify this correction. Second, a resurgence in inflation or concerns about fiscal conditions could prompt a sharp rise in sovereign bond yields, triggering broader market turmoil. Finally, as financial services become digitalized and interconnected, cyber threats are posing an increasingly serious systemic risk.
