[Some small and medium-sized banks receive window guidance on investment business, bond allocation strategies or adjustments] On October 14, we learned from multiple people familiar with the matter that some small and medium-sized banks have recently received window reminders regarding financial investment business, involving requirements such as that the growth rate of financial investment shall not be higher than the growth rate of loans, and that the duration of new bonds shall not be higher than the existing duration. The focus, guidance form and implementation intensity vary from place to place. In the context of pressure on net interest margins and insufficient demand for effective credit, bond investment has become an important way for some small and medium-sized banks to supplement their income in recent years. Some interviewees believe that this round of guidance is intended to guide banks to support the local real economy while preventing interest rate risks caused by excessively extending bond durations. As relevant requirements are implemented, some banks are re-evaluating the pace and term structure of debt allocation. (Shanghai Securities News)
