[Deloitte CFO survey shows that AI will prompt more than half of British companies to lay off employees] October 14th, an important chief financial officer (CFO) survey showed that many large companies in the UK are preparing to replace human labor with AI in the next year. Deloitte said on Wednesday that 52% of CFOs expect to lose jobs due to AI, although adoption of the technology is still in its early stages. 67%, or more than two-thirds of respondents, said the changes brought about by AI are currently only a quarter of the final scale they expect. The report is yet another proof that Britain's "economic growth is recovering but not creating jobs." The application of AI and high labor costs are prompting companies to reduce positions while expanding business. As a result, the number of long-term unemployed people in the UK has risen, and youth unemployment has risen to its highest level in more than a decade, in sharp contrast to the performance of the British economy lagging behind other European countries. However, although companies are using AI to cut costs, the impact on profits is still unclear. Deloitte's report shows that only one-third of CFOs believe that AI will help improve profit margins in the next year.
