[IMF and World Bank jointly release global roadmap to combat online financial fraud] On October 14th, as increasingly sophisticated fraud activities continue to undermine public confidence in digital finance, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank released a global roadmap to combat online financial fraud. The document, called the "Bangkok Blueprint," was developed in collaboration with the Bank of Thailand and released on Wednesday during the two institutions' annual meeting in Bangkok, according to a joint statement. The blueprint proposes 12 policy considerations to help countries identify risk vulnerabilities and develop comprehensive and coordinated response plans.
The framework covers areas such as legal system construction, anti-fraud and law enforcement, domestic and international cooperation, and consumer protection, and emphasizes the establishment of clear accountability mechanisms and timely coordination mechanisms among financial services institutions, social media, digital platforms, e-commerce and telecommunications networks.
