[British Exercise Landing to Seize Islands Disputed with Argentina] October 14th: The UK recently held a military exercise in the Malvinas Islands (called the Falkland Islands in the UK), simulating the British army landing on the island more than 40 years ago and retaking the island from the Argentine army. Argentina and the UK dispute sovereignty over the Falklands. In April 1982, a war broke out between Afghanistan and Britain over the sovereignty of the Falklands, and the war ended with Britain's victory. Argentina has not given up its claim to sovereignty over the Falklands since its defeat, and the United Kingdom has refused to negotiate on the issue of sovereignty over the Falklands.
