[U.S. regulators say nine major banks have implemented "de-banking" on customers] On October 14th, U.S. regulators stated that nine large banks had implemented relevant policies to "deny services, cancel banking services and discriminate" against some customers and businesses. Previously, U.S. President Donald Trump asked regulatory authorities to curb the so-called "de-banking" behavior, and regulatory agencies have made preliminary determinations in this regard. The U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) found that between 2020 and September 2025, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Citigroup, Wells Fargo, U.S. Bank, Capital One Financial, PNC Financial Services Group, Toronto-Dominion Bank, and Bank of Montreal implemented policies that restricted some customers’ access to banking services or required those customers to undergo higher levels of review and approval.
