[China achieves key technological breakthroughs in the field of quantum networks] October 15th, according to the University of Science and Technology of China, a research team composed of Pan Jianwei, Zhang Qiang and others from the University and Zheng Mingyang and others from the Jinan Institute of Quantum Technology have made important progress in the efficient quantum interconnection of ultraviolet band ion trap memories and communication optical fibers. They successfully achieved high-efficiency, low-noise quantum frequency conversion from 393 nanometers to 1550 nanometers, breaking the international record for quantum frequency conversion efficiency and noise level in this band, and providing a key technology for the remote interconnection of trapped ion nodes in scalable quantum networks. Relevant results were published in the academic journal Physical Review Letters. (Science and Technology Daily)
