[Argentina’s Foreign Minister hinted that the country may withdraw from Mercosur] August 29th, Argentine Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno hinted on the 27th that Argentina may withdraw from the Southern Mercosur (Mercosur). Kilno attended an event at the Buenos Aires Bar Association headquarters that day and said that Mercosur "has not achieved its original goals." He said that if the Mercosur reform cannot be advanced, Argentina will advance its own trade process. Argentine President Milai has repeatedly stated that Argentina will withdraw from Mercosur if it prevents Argentina from negotiating free trade agreements with other countries. Mercosur was founded by Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. It was officially launched in 1995 and Bolivia officially joined in 2023.
