[A nuclear power unit in Japan will be shut down due to water leakage] On October 15th, Japan's Tohoku Electric Power Company said on the 15th that Unit 2 of the Onagawa Nuclear Power Plant operated by the company will be shut down around the 17th due to water leakage. Onagawa Nuclear Power Plant is located in Onagawa Town, Miyagi Prefecture. Tohoku Electric Power Company issued a press release that day, saying that the leak occurred from a pressure relief valve of the high-pressure first feed water heater installed in the turbine room of Unit 2. The company discovered on September 1 that a trace amount of water was leaking from the valve into the drainage tank and has been continuously monitoring it. There is currently a slight increase in water leakage, so the company decided to shut down the reactor and repair the leaking valves and replace parts. Japan's Tohoku Electric Power Company stated in the communiqué that the leaked water has been recovered and properly purified, and has not caused any radioactive impact on the surrounding environment.
