[Toyota will test its own "integrated die-casting" for the first time in China, and the Lexus Shanghai factory will be put into production in 2027] October 16th, Toyota plans to use its own giant die-casting equipment to produce electric vehicles at a Lexus factory in China with an investment of US$2 billion. This is one of Toyota's latest measures to reverse the decline in sales in China and improve its competitiveness. Asked whether Toyota sources giant die-casting machines from local suppliers, Toyota Chief Technology Officer Hiroki Nakajima said the company was developing the technology "in-house." The factory in Shanghai is under construction and is expected to start producing cars in 2027.
