[U.S. manufacturing output rebounded in September, semiconductor production performed strongly] October 16th, U.S. manufacturing output rebounded in September after declining in the previous month, in line with the rebound trend of manufacturing this year driven by capital investment. Data released by the Federal Reserve on Friday showed that manufacturing output increased by 0.3%, after August data was revised to decrease by 0.2%. Overall industrial output, which includes mining and utilities, rose 0.7%, the largest increase in five months. Utility output rose 3.5%, likely reflecting strong electricity demand during the hottest September on record. Mining industry output also grew. "U.S. factories continue to post modest goods output growth, driven by the AI craze and consumer demand for health," Sal Guatieri, senior economist at BMO Capital Markets, said in the report.
