[China's first million-ton low-concentration CCUS full-chain demonstration project starts construction] On October 17, we learned from Sinopec that China's first million-ton low-concentration carbon dioxide capture, utilization and storage full-chain demonstration project has started construction in Shengli Oilfield. After the project is completed, it will be able to capture and utilize low-concentration flue gas from coal-fired power plants, all of which will be used for oil field displacement and storage, exploring new ways for large-scale carbon reduction of coal-fired power plants. The demonstration project started this time covers an area of about 74,500 square meters, and includes new absorption towers, deep purification towers, regeneration towers and other large towers. Among them, the absorption tower is 82 meters high, 12.6 meters in diameter, weighs 1,280 tons, and the chimney is 150 meters high. It is the largest carbon dioxide capture equipment in the country. The project captures low-concentration flue gas from coal-fired power plants with a carbon dioxide concentration of only 12% to 15%, and injects it into the oil reservoir through more than 70 gas injection wells, sequestering carbon dioxide while achieving oil displacement and increased production.
