[Egypt: Make Saudi Arabia’s security and stability a regional priority] On October 18, Egyptian President Sisi chaired a National Defense Council meeting at the Presidential Palace. The spokesperson of the Egyptian Presidential Palace said in a statement issued that day that the Defense Council meeting reviewed the current regional situation and the dangerous developments taking place in the region, especially the escalating and unacceptable attacks against Saudi Arabia. The meeting decided as follows: Saudi Arabia’s national security is closely related to the security of Egypt and Arab countries, and Egypt will firmly maintain comprehensive unity with Saudi Arabia. Egypt will provide all necessary and possible support to Saudi Arabia to safeguard its security and stability and protect its resources and territorial integrity. Egypt will continue and intensify its political and diplomatic efforts in coordination with relevant regional and international parties to promote the de-escalation of tensions throughout the region and the peaceful resolution of the current crisis.
