[Chile resumes consular services in Venezuela] On October 20, Chile’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it would resume consular services in Venezuela with immediate effect. The Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that in the initial stage of the resumption of consular services, it will mainly issue passports and identity documents to Chilean citizens living in Venezuela, and open appointments for other consular services. Starting from October 26, the two consular offices will gradually resume the processing of passports, ID cards, travel authorizations, notary entrustments, and consular registration services such as birth, death, and marriage. Chilean Foreign Minister Francisco Pérez McKenna said that the resumption of consular operations will provide necessary services and protection to more than 25,000 Chilean citizens living in Venezuela. The Chilean consulate in Venezuela will suspend services in January 2025. On August 6 this year, the two governments officially resumed consular relations.
