[National Development and Reform Commission: New driving forces such as the smart economy contributed more than 40% to economic growth in the first three quarters] On October 20, the National Development and Reform Commission held a press conference in October. Zuo Gang, deputy director of the National Economic Comprehensive Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, said that in the first three quarters, China's economy moved forward despite pressure, making progress while maintaining stability, with new momentum and improved structure, showing strong resilience and vitality, which can be summarized in three words: "stable, new, and resilient." Among them, "stable" means that the macroeconomy is moving forward steadily, which is mainly reflected in economic growth remaining within a reasonable range; "new" means that new driving forces are accelerating the growth and their driving role is constantly increasing. In the first three quarters, new driving forces such as high-end manufacturing, smart economy, and modern services contributed more than 40% to economic growth. In the first three quarters, the external technology licensing of innovative drugs amounted to approximately US$130 billion, which was close to that of the whole of last year. “Resilience” refers to the consolidation and strengthening of economic resilience, which is mainly reflected in the strong and effective security of the food and energy procurement chain and overcoming the adverse effects of frequent natural disasters.
