[U.S. Florida issues arrest warrant for Raul Castro, Cuba responds: political farce] On October 20, Florida Attorney General James Usmeyer issued an arrest warrant for Cuban revolutionary leader Raul Castro on the 19th for the so-called "participation in first-degree murder." Cuban President Diaz-Canel condemned the US state of Florida's issuance of an arrest warrant for Raul Castro on the 19th, calling it a "political farce" that has no legal or practical significance. Díaz-Canel said that anti-Cuba politicians planned this action against Raul Castro as part of their aggressive plot. Cuban Foreign Minister Rodriguez also condemned Florida's arrest warrant that day, calling it a "futile trick" that was consistent with other cliches and baseless accusations against Cuba and reflected political corruption and moral decay. Raul Castro was born in 1931. He was elected as the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba twice in 2011 and 2016. He will step down in April 2021.
