[U.S. Vice President Vance refuses to call Ukraine an "ally" but a partner in some aspects] October 21, when asked in a recent video program whether Ukraine was an ally of the United States, U.S. Vice President Vance said: "Of course they are partners in some aspects, but from time to time we have some differences of interest." When asked "whether partners are equivalent to allies, or whether the two have a relatively close relationship," Vance said, "As far as I know, we do not have a formal alliance with Ukraine." Vance said that Ukraine is not a member of NATO and should not join NATO.
