[Meta issues new shares to Zuckerberg to avoid wealth tax forcing him to sell voting shares] On October 22, Meta Platforms Inc. signed an agreement with CEO Mark Zuckerberg to allow him to continue to reside in the jurisdiction where the company is headquartered. Previously, the CEO said he was considering moving out of California if it passed a wealth tax. Meta said in the filing Wednesday that Zuckerberg will "continue to be a resident of California, or any other jurisdiction in which the company is headquartered, for a period of eight years." Meta said Zuckerberg is considering moving out of California because a proposed wealth tax could expose him to a multibillion-dollar tax bill and could force him to sell voting shares to pay the tax. The company announced it would issue Class C shares, an arrangement designed in part to prevent this.
